April is here and that means we are coming into our busy season on the farm. It’s all hands on deck to get the fields and irrigation pivots ready for spring planting. It’s an exciting time, and I’m oh so ready for all the brown fields around me to be replaced with the lusciously growing crops.
I will admit there is just a little bit of dread as we go into our busy season. Sometimes the days get long and the nights short. I don’t have my own side of the family here, and the loneliness gets real with Marcus working so much. I honestly get an urge to just take the trip home to my mom, but I’ve slowly come to realize how much Marcus relies on me during these times. I say slowly because in the first years of our marriage I was unsure where I fit during the busy times, and at least once I did go back to Oklahoma and visit my family. Of course Marcus wasn’t going to tell me I couldn’t go, but he did finally admit how much it meant to him to have me home. So, I’m staying put this season and I’ll turn into Uber eats as I cook and tote food around. 🙂

The farm life has taught me to never assume my little voice and what I do doesn’t matter. It does matter, and I fill a unique place that helps make our way of life run smoothly. Maybe you live a vastly different life than I do, but take pride in the place that you fill and let joy fill you as you are faithful to your life’s calling.
Much love,
Kelsey Lynae
