Oh what a beautiful, amazing day that was. The day our darling little girl made her appearance.

Many things need to be in place for a beautiful and synced birth, and for me one of those things was going back to Oklahoma, where I am from, to bring baby girl earth side. Where we live in Mexico the closest hospital is 1.5 hours away, and I was just not comfortable with that. My dream birth was a home birth but I wanted to closer in proximity to a hospital just in case things went wrong.

So, about 10 days before my due date my husband and I made the journey to OK. We set up house in my parent’s guest home, and waited for any signs of baby coming. We stayed quite busy doing activities with my family which was great to keep my body and mind active. Her due date, Dec. 7, came around, but we went to the sale barn with my family as there was no sign of her coming.

On Thursday, December 8, 2022 the weather changed from sunny and rather warm to rainy and cold. Around 1:00 pm we had a scheduled home visit from one of the midwifes, and through the course of the visit she noticed I was contracting. We didn’t make a big deal of it, and she left. 5:00 pm rolled around and I was feeling tired so I thought I should try to rest. The minute my body fell into the bed I felt a kick and my water broke. The contractions started in, and it did not take long until they were very intense! My midwife asked how far apart they were, but at that point they were so close together that I did not have the mental capacity to track them. I just knew the midwife team had better hurry up and get there!! I held onto Marcus’s arms for quite awhile and stood through the contractions, but after a while my mom thought I should sit down. Charlee, my midwife, came through the door and immediately made me get up from the chair. She put a pillow on the floor in front of the bed and told me to kneel. I concentrated on putting my hands out over the bed and opening my hands wide to let my body take full control, all the while imagining the contractions were like waves I was riding. As I was concentrating and praying through my contractions, my mom and dad were frantically trying to get the birth pool filled up, and the minute I could get in instant relief came.

I crowned and was ready to push. The pushing stage came as a relief from the extremely fast contractions. I would get the urge to push, and then could rest for a few minutes. I pushed for around 45 minutes, and then the glory moment came. Emmalyn Rose was born at 8:10 pm. It was a short, fast and very intense labor, but it was so amazing and I could not ask for better birth! Praise the Lord!
